How to Add Menu Options

Menu Options act as a directory for departments or individuals within your organization. Menu Options can be used to route calls to forwarding phone numbers, play recorded messages, send callers to voicemail, and/or repeat the Call Menu. To add a Menu Option, please follow the steps below:  

 

 

This tutorial will cover:

 

- Creating a Menu Option that sends calls to Forwarding Phone Number(s)

- Creating a Menu Option that sends calls an Audio File

- Creating a Menu Option that sends calls to an Audio File and Forwarding Phone Number(s)

- Creating a Menu Option that sends calls to Voicemail

- Creating a Menu Option that sends calls Back to the Call Menu

 

Note: In order to add Menu Options, you need to first activate the Call Menu. For instructions on how to active the Call Menu, please visit How to Activate the Call Menu  

 

 

Menu Option --> Forwarding Phone Number(s)

 

 

Menu options may be routed directly to a Forwarding Phone Number(s) (mobile, landline, etc.) by following the steps below:  

 

1) Login to your Talkroute account and navigate to the Manager section.

 

   

 

 

2) Navigate to the Call Menu section and create a menu option by clicking the "Add New Menu Option" button.

   

 

3) Select the desired option number, Description (e.g. "Sales Department") and select the "Send calls to your phones?" drop down and choose "Yes".  

 

 

4) Specify the type of forwarding (Ring in Sequence or Ring All) and add the Forwarding Phone Number(s) you wish to forward calls to and click "Save & Close". For more information on how to add forwarding numbers, please visit the How to Add a Forwarding Phone Number tutorial

 

 

5) The new menu option is ready for use and will show a route summary containing the destination. 

    

 

Menu Option --> Audio Files

 

Menu Options may be routed to an audio file that plays upon dialing the menu option number by following the steps below:  

 

1) Login to your Talkroute account and navigate to the Manager section.

   

 

2) Navigate to the Call Menu section and create a menu option by clicking the "Add New Menu Option" button.  

 

 

3) Select the desired option number, Description (e.g. "Hours of Operation"), and select the "Send calls to your phones?" drop down and choose "No."  

 

 

4) Select the desired audio file from the "What audio file should we play?" drop down and choose the desire destination from the "Where do you want to send callers?" drop down. Once you have made these selections, click "Save & Close".

 

 

5) The new Menu Option is ready for use and will show a route summary containing the destination.  

   

 

 

Menu Option --> Audio File and Forwarding Phone Numbers

 

Menu Options may be routed to an audio file that plays upon dialing the menu option number and then routed to a Forwarding Phone Number (mobile, landline, etc.) by following the steps below:  

 

1) Login to your Talkroute account and navigate to the Manager section.  

 

 

2) Navigate to the Call Menu section and create a menu option by clicking the "Add New Menu Option" button.

    

 

3) Select the desired option number, Description (e.g. "Reservations") and select the "Send calls to your phones?" drop down and choose "Yes".  

 

 

4) Specify the type of forwarding (Ring in Sequence or Ring All) and add the Forwarding Phone Number(s) you wish to forward calls to. For more information on how to add forwarding numbers, please visit the How to Add a Forwarding Phone Number tutorial  

 

 

5) Select "More Options" and select the desired audio file under the "What audio file should we play before connecting to your phones?" drop down. Once you have made these selections, click "Save & Close".  

 

 

6) The new Menu Option is ready for use and will show a route summary containing the destination.  

 

Menu Option --> Voicemail

 

Menu Options may be routed directly to voicemail upon dialing the menu option number by following the steps below:  

 

1) Login to your Talkroute account and navigate to the Manager section.  

 

 

2) Navigate to the Call Menu section and create a menu option by clicking the "Add New Menu Option" button.  

 

 

3) Select the desired option number, Description (e.g. "Voicemail"), and select the "Send calls to your phones?" drop down and choose "No."  

 

 

4) Select the "Where do you want to send callers?" drop down and choose "Go to Voicemail". Once you have made these selections, click "Save & Close".  

 

 

5) The new Menu Option is ready for use and will show a route summary containing the destination.  

   

Menu Option --> Repeat Call Menu

 

Menu Options may be used to repeat the Call Menu (Press #1... Press #2...) upon dialing the menu option number by following the steps below:  

 

1) Login to your Talkroute account and navigate to the Manager section.  

 

 

2) Navigate to the Call Menu section and create a menu option by clicking the "Add New Menu Option" button.  

 

 

3) Select the desired option number, Description (e.g. "Repeat Menu"), and select the "Send calls to your phones?" drop down and choose "No."  

 

 

4) Select the "Where do you want to send callers?" drop down and choose "Back to Menu". Once you have made these selections, click "Save & Close".  

 

 

5) The new Menu Option is ready for use and will show a route summary containing the destination.  

   

   

 

Note: When testing these changes, you must dial your Talkroute Phone Number from a phone number that is NOT listed as a Forwarding Phone Number. If you attempt to call your Talkroute Phone Number from a Forwarding Phone Number, the call will disconnect or outbound dialing will be initiated (if enabled).
