How to Add a Forwarding Phone Number


Forwarding Phone Numbers are the phone numbers that receive your incoming Talkroute calls. To add Forwarding Phone Numbers, please follow the steps below:

 

This guide is broken down into parts and covers the following:

Part 1 - Adding Forwarding Phone Numbers through the Settings Area
Part 2 - Adding Forwarding Phone Numbers through the Manager Area

 

 

 

Part 1 - Forwarding Phone Number Settings

1. Login to your Talkroute account and navigate to the Settings section.

2. Select the Forwarding Phones Numbers tab. Under the Add a Forwarding Phone Number area, enter the desired phone number and provide a description. Once you have entered this information, click "Add".

3. Your new Forwarding Phone Number has now been added.

Note: Adding a Forwarding Phone Number does not automatically select it for forwarding.
Please see Part 2 below for instructions on selecting the newly added Forwarding Phone Number.

 

 

 

Part 2 - Adding a Forwarding Phone Number to a Virtual Phone Number, Menu Option, or Extension

1. Login to your Talkroute account and navigate to the Manager area.

2. Locate the Virtual Phone Number, Call Menu Option, or Extension that you would like to add the forwarding phone number to and select Edit.

3. Make sure that the setting "Send incoming calls to your phones?" is set to "Yes, send calls directly to my phones"

4. Choose a Ring in Sequence or Ring All configuration under the Forwarding Settings, then select the green "+" icon

5. Enter the desired phone number and provide a description. Once you have entered this information, click the green "+" icon

6. You will see the new number appear under "Selected Forwarding Numbers" section. Once you are satisfied with the changes, click "Save Changes"

7. Verify the new Forwarding Phone Number(s) have been added and click "Save & Close"

When testing these changes, you must dial your Talkroute Phone Number from a phone number that is NOT listed as a Forwarding Phone Number. If you attempt to call your Talkroute Phone Number from a Forwarding Phone Number, the call will disconnect or outbound dialing will be initiated (if enabled).
