Welcome greetings are the messages your callers hear when they first connect to your Talkroute phone numbers (e.g., "Thank you for calling ABC Company"). You can assign a different welcome greeting to each of your virtual phone numbers.
Note: Before you can assign a welcome greeting, you'll need to upload or record an audio file. The preferred method is through the Talkroute desktop or web application. See How to Add Audio Files for instructions.
How to Change the Welcome Greeting
-
Log in to your Talkroute account and navigate to the Manager section.
-
Under Virtual Phone Numbers, select the phone number you want to update and click the Edit button.
-
In the Select Welcome Greeting audio file dropdown, choose the audio file you want to use.
-
Click Save & Close to apply your changes.
Allow Extension Dialing During Greeting
By default, callers cannot dial multi-digit extensions while the welcome greeting is playing. To enable this option:
- While editing your virtual phone number, click More Options.
- Change "Allow dialing of extensions during greeting?" to Yes.
- Click Save & Close.
Note: Single-digit menu options can only be dialed once the caller reaches the call menu audio prompt.
Uploading Audio from the Control Panel
You can also upload or record a new audio file directly from the virtual phone number settings by clicking the upload icon next to the Welcome Greeting dropdown. This opens a quick upload/record dialog without leaving the page.
