A blind transfer immediately connects the caller to the transfer destination without speaking to the recipient first. Here's what happens when you blind transfer to each destination type:
- Menu Options: The caller is forwarded to the menu option as if they selected it from the call menu.
- Virtual Phone Numbers: The caller reaches the virtual phone number as if they dialed it directly.
- Forwarding Phone Numbers: The caller reaches the forwarding number as if they dialed it directly. Call Announce does not play on direct transfers to forwarding numbers, so if the phone doesn't answer, the call goes to that phone's internal voicemail — not a Talkroute voicemail box.
- Extensions: The caller reaches the extension as if they dialed it directly. If the extension doesn't answer, the call goes to the designated Talkroute voicemail box.
- Desktop/Web App Users: The caller is forwarded to the user's desktop or web app.
- Voicemail Boxes: The caller is sent directly to the voicemail box and hears the greeting associated with that box.
Tip — Transferring to a forwarding phone number: To ensure callers reach a Talkroute voicemail box instead of the phone's internal voicemail, transfer to an extension or menu option with Call Announce enabled on the forwarding phone number.
