Use the Talkroute desktop and mobile apps to make and receive calls, send text messages, check voicemail, and stay connected from your computer or mobile device. Phone system settings can be managed from the Talkroute desktop and web applications.

 

Install the Desktop App


  1. Go to talkroute.com/downloads.

     

  2. The downloads page will automatically detect your operating system and show the recommended desktop app download.

     

  3. If the page does not show the correct download, use the links below the app preview to select Windows, Mac, or Linux.

     

 

Install on Windows


  1. Open the downloaded executable file to launch the installer.

     

  2. Follow the installation prompts. When installation is complete, the Talkroute app will open automatically.

     

  3. Log in using your Talkroute account email address and password.

     

 

Install on Mac


  1. Open the downloaded DMG file.

     

  2. Drag the Talkroute icon into your Applications folder.

     

  3. Open the Talkroute app from your Applications folder and log in using your Talkroute account email address and password.

     

 

Install on Linux


  1. Download the Talkroute AppImage file.

     

  2. Right-click the file and open Properties.

     

  3. Enable the option to launch the file as an executable.

     

  4. Double-click the AppImage file to open Talkroute and log in using your Talkroute account email address and password.

     

 

Finish Desktop App Setup


  1. If prompted, choose the Talkroute number you want to display for outgoing calls and text messages.

     

  2. Review and accept the 911/E911 notice to finish setup.

     

  3. Click the gear icon to open Settings & Preferences. Go to Notifications & Sounds and confirm your microphone, speaker, and notification settings.

     

Tip: You can also use the Talkroute web app at my.talkroute.com. This is a good way to test Talkroute before installing the desktop app, or to use Talkroute from a computer you do not use every day.

 

Install the Mobile App


  1. Download the Talkroute mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

     

  2. Open the app and log in using your Talkroute account email address and password.

  3. Allow notifications so you can receive alerts for new text messages and voicemail messages.

     

  4. If prompted, allow access to contacts so contact names can appear in call history, voicemail, and text messages.

     

  5. During the welcome screen under the Caller ID step, Confirm your Cellular Number matches the mobile phone number assigned to your device. Choose the default Talkroute number to display for outgoing calls. If text messaging is enabled, choose the default number for outgoing texts.

     

  6. You can confirm or change these at any time by going to Settings

     

Note: The mobile app places outbound calls through your device's regular phone dialer. Your mobile device must have active voice and data service for calls to connect properly.

  • Manage phone system settings, including call routing, hours of operation, audio files, forwarding phone numbers, history, and reporting.

 

Tip: If you have multiple Talkroute numbers, you can choose which number to display for outgoing calls and texts from the app settings. Phone system settings are available in the desktop and web apps only.
