Do calls from Talkroute affect my phone bill?

That depends on how you're using Talkroute to make and receive calls:

  • Mobile App (PSTN-Based Calls): When you place or receive a call through the Talkroute mobile app, the app uses your carrier’s regular voice network (PSTN) by dialing a local access number. These calls will use your mobile plan’s minutes, just like any standard call. If you have a limited-minute plan, Talkroute calls may count against your usage.

  • Web & Desktop Apps (VoIP Calls): If you're using the Talkroute web or desktop apps, your calls are routed over the internet using VoIP. These calls do not use your cellular minutes and will not appear on your mobile carrier bill. They will, however, require a stable internet connection (WiFi or wired).

In short:

  • Using mobile app = standard minutes used (PSTN)

  • Using web or desktop app = internet only (VoIP), no mobile minutes used

This flexibility allows you to choose how you connect—based on what’s most convenient or cost-effective for you.
