What are Extensions?

Extensions allow callers to reach specific people, departments, or information after dialing your Talkroute number. Extensions can be single-digit or multi-digit and are fully customizable in your Talkroute account.

Single-Digit Extensions

Ideal for providing callers with department options or information:

  • Dial 1 for Hours of Operation
  • Dial 2 for Sales
  • Dial 3 for Support

Multi-Digit Extensions

Ideal for allowing callers to reach team members directly:

  • Dial 2001 to reach John
  • Dial 2002 to reach Stephanie
  • Dial 2003 to reach Mary

Extension Routing Options

Each extension can be configured to:

  • Ring one or more forwarding phone numbers (cell, home, office, etc.)
  • Play a custom audio message (e.g., hours of operation)
  • Forward to voicemail
  • Go to a call menu
  • Disconnect the call

For step-by-step instructions, see How to Add Extensions.
