How to Disable/Enable Call Announce (press #1 to accept, press #2 to reject message)

Call Announce is the prompt you hear prior to answering a call from Talkroute on your forwarding device. To disable Call Announce, please follow the steps below:

Important note: The Call Announce feature is required for Talkroute Voicemail to function properly. Disabling Call Announce can send calls to your forwarding phone number's personal or internal voicemail box. Please see the notes at the end of this guide to learn how this setting affects voicemail.

Changing the Call Announce Setting

1. Login to your Talkroute account and navigate to the Settings section.

This section will provide more information on how to use a Talkroute voicemail box with the Call Announce feature disabled and how to send calls to a personal or internal voicemail box. Please note that you can only customize the Talkroute ring time for a specific forwarding phone number under a Ring in Sequence configuration. A Ring All configuration will ring your listed phone numbers in 30-second increments and cannot be changed at this time.

Sending Calls to a personal or internal Voicemail Box: To send a call to an internal voicemail box on your device, there are two settings that need to be adjusted. First, the Call Announce feature for the forwarding phone number would need to be disabled (see above). Second, you would need to make sure that your Talkroute ring time is set to a longer time than it takes to get to your internal voicemail box.

Example: If it takes 35 seconds to reach your personal or internal voicemail box when calling your forwarding phone number directly, you would want to set your Talkroute ring time to be 40 seconds or longer. That will give your internal voicemail box enough time to pick up the call before the call is sent to the end destination you have selected (Talkroute Voicemail, Go to Call Menu, or Disconnect the call). You can also request to have your forwarding phone number ring time changed to be longer or shorter with your phone’s carrier.

Using Talkroute Voicemail with Call Announce Disabled: If you would like to disable Call Announce, but retain Talkroute voicemail, you would simply need to make sure that the Talkroute ring time for your forwarding phone number is set to a shorter time than it takes to get to the internal voicemail box on your device.

Example: if it takes 35 seconds to reach your personal or internal voicemail box when calling your forwarding phone number directly, you would want to set your Talkroute ring time to be 30 seconds or shorter. That will make our system send the call to the next forwarding phone number or the end destination you have selected (Talkroute Voicemail, Go to Call Menu, or Disconnect the call) before the call can reach your internal voicemail box. You can also request to have your forwarding phone number ring time changed to be longer or shorter with your phone’s carrier.

Important note: If a forwarding phone number is off, does not have service, or is in a do not disturb mode while configured in this way, an incoming call can still go to the personal or internal voicemail box of the device and will not forward to the next forwarding phone number in your list.

Our guides on configuring Ring All or Ring in Sequence can be found here:

Ring in Sequence:

When testing these changes, you must dial your Talkroute Phone Number from a phone number that is NOT listed as a Forwarding Phone Number. If you attempt to call your Talkroute Phone Number from a Forwarding Phone Number, the call will disconnect or outbound dialing will be initiated (if enabled).
